I have already discussed all the bricks. If you can see all about the brick, click here. Let’s talk about the standard size of a brick in detail.

Brick workmanship is characterized as the arrangement of bricks in a methodical way, utilizing mortar to tie the bricks together and make a strong mass that can withstand a lot of pressing factors. Various kinds of bricks and mortars are utilized to build blockwork.

From the Egyptian Pyramids to the Great Wall of China, probably the most popular building works of art throughout the planet have been built from blockwork.

Different nations have different standard brick sizes and measurements; nevertheless, bricks can be made in various shapes and sizes, contingent upon their application. If bricks are enormous, it is hard to consume them appropriately, and they become too hefty to ever be set with a solitary hand.

Then again, if bricks are small, a greater amount of mortar is required. Subsequently, a standard measurement is resolved for different brickworks. Genuine size is the genuine element of the brick. Ostensible size is the real size, in addition to the width of the mortar joint.

Most bricks are produced so that the ostensible sizes fit into a lattice of 4 inches, which follows the modules of other structural materials like entryways, windows, and wood segments.

Standard Size of Brick in Nepal

As indicated by the National Building Code (NBC 205: 1994) of Nepal, the bricks will be of a standard rectangular shape, consumed red, hand-framed or machine-made, and of devastating strength at the very least 3.5 N/mm².

The higher the thickness and the strength, the better they will be. The standard brick size in Nepal is 240 x 115 x 57 mm, with 10 mm thick flat and vertical mortar joints, which is ideal.

The resilience of – 10 mm in length, – 5 mm in width, and ±3 mm in thickness will be satisfied with the end goal of thick dividers in this Mandatory Rules of Thumb (MRT).

Standard Brick Size in England

“In England, the length and width of the basic brick have remained genuinely consistent throughout the hundreds of years; however, the depth has shifted from around two inches (around 51 mm) or more modest on prior occasions to around two inches (around 64 mm) more recently.

In the United Kingdom, the standard size of a cutting-edge brick is 215 × 102.5 × 65 mm, which, with an ostensible 10 mm  mortar joint, shapes a unit size of 225 × 112.5 × 75 mm, for a proportion of 6:3:2.”

Standard Brick Size in Australia

As per Boral Company in Australia, the standard brick size (or the working size) is 76mm high, 230mm long, and 110mm wide according to the Australian Standard AS4455.

A few bricks are made with various work sizes. 50 mm and 90 mm high bricks, 90 mm wide bricks, and 290 mm long bricks are utilized for various primary and stylist impacts.

Bigger bricks are regularly utilized for more prudent laying and as a plan highlight either all alone or joined with smaller bricks.

In cyclonic regions, bigger (140 mm wide x 90 mm high x 290 mm long) empty bricks are utilized to permit support and grouting in the divider. More extensive (150 mm wide) bricks can likewise be utilized in dividers requiring lower sound transmission, higher imperviousness to fire resistance levels, and higher load-bearing limits contingent upon the particular brick properties.

Standard Brick Size in the United States

“In the United States, present-day standard bricks are (constrained by the American Society for Testing and Materials, for example, ASTM) around (203 × 92 × 57 mm).

The more generally utilized is the modular brick 7 5⁄8 × 3 5⁄8 × 2 1⁄4 inches (194 × 92 × 57 mm). This modular brick of 7 5⁄8 with a 3⁄8 mortar joint facilitates the figuring of the number of bricks in a given run.”

Standard and Nominal Brick Size in India

In India, the standard brick size is 190 mm x 90 mm x 90 mm according to the suggestion of BIS. With mortar thickness, the component of the brick becomes 200 mm x 100 mm x 100 mm, which is otherwise called the ostensible size of the modular brick.

Note:- The primary target of these Mandatory Rules of Thumb (MRT) in the National Building Code of Nepal is to prepare to utilize measurements and subtleties for different underlying and non-underlying components for up to three-story support cement (RC), outlined, standard private structures ordinarily work by proprietor developers in Nepal.

Face brick measurements
