  • Stick to the posted speed limits and slow down in adverse conditions like rain or fog.

3. Avoid Distracted Driving

  • Refrain from using your phone or any other device while driving.
  • Keep your attention focused on the road and avoid activities like eating, grooming, or adjusting the radio.
  • Hands-free devices can still be a distraction, so limit their use as much as possible.

4. Obey Traffic Signals and Signs

  • Traffic signals and road signs are in place to control the flow of traffic and prevent accidents.
  • Red lights, stop signs, and yield signs must always be obeyed.
  • Be cautious when approaching intersections and always give the right of way when required.

5. Use Indicators and Mirrors Properly

  • Always signal before making any turn or lane change.
  • Check your mirrors frequently to be aware of your surroundings.
  • Make sure other drivers can predict your movements by using your indicators in advance.

6. Maintain a Safe Following Distance

  • Keep a sufficient gap between your car and the vehicle in front of you.

7. Don’t Drive Under the Influence

  • Driving under the influence is one of the leading causes of road accidents.

8. Be Mindful of Pedestrians and Cyclists

  • Always yield to pedestrians at crosswalks and intersections.
  • Give cyclists ample space, and pass them cautiously.
  • Stay aware of school zones and areas with heavy foot traffic.

9. Check Blind Spots Regularly

  • Vehicles often have blind spots, especially when merging or changing lanes.
  • Check over your shoulder in addition to using mirrors to ensure the area is clear.
  • Be cautious of motorcycles and smaller vehicles that can be harder to spot.

10. Keep Your Vehicle in Good Condition

  • Regularly service your car to ensure it’s functioning properly.
  • Check tires, brakes, lights, and windshield wipers frequently.
  • Keeping your car in good working condition reduces the likelihood of mechanical failure on the road.

11. Adopt Defensive Driving Techniques

  • Anticipate the actions of other drivers and be prepared to react.
  • Stay alert to avoid accidents caused by reckless or distracted drivers.
  • Drive conservatively, leaving room for sudden stops or unexpected road hazards.

12. Respect Weather Conditions

  • Adjust your driving to accommodate weather conditions like rain, fog, snow, or ice.
  • Drive slower and increase the following distance in bad weather.
  • Use headlights appropriately and ensure wipers are in good working order.

13. Practice Patience on the Road

  • Avoid aggressive driving behaviors such as tailgating, cutting off other drivers, or road rage.
  • Give yourself plenty of time to reach your destination to avoid the temptation to speed.
  • Being patient keeps you and others safe on the road.

Important Road Safety Rules

Follow the safety rules given below

Always walk on your left while walking along the road.

Always walk along the pedestrian part that is the footpaths

Do not dance play sing or talk while walking on the road.

Care should be taken not to run and cross the road it should not be crossed in a hurry.

Do not cross in front of bus-truck heavy traffic.

If there are zebra crossings then cross only at zebra crossings.

Before crossing the road look to your right left and when the road is clear then only cross the road.

In cities, there are signals on the road that precisely follow the signal rule see the green signal depicting the walking man and then only cross the road.

Do not cross the railway lines use the bridge to cross the railway lines.

Do not throw peals of fruits on the road.

While traveling in any weaker do not put your hand head or any other part of the body out of the vehicle.

Always get in or out from the left side door of a rickshaw or car.

When the bus stops walk in a queue and get onto the bus do not get into or get down from a moving bus.
